Board Leadership

Board Chair: Lance Winter – Former publisher of the Austin American-Statesman and San Marcos Daily Record, Lance brings a wealth of experience in media and community engagement. His leadership ensures strategic vision and strong partnerships for United Way’s mission.

Executive Committee At Large: Lucy Johnson – Former mayor of Kyle, TX and former Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, Lucy is a passionate advocate for education, community development, and policy initiatives that improve lives across Central Texas.

Non-Voting Agency Representative: Julia Ramsay New – Representing United Way’s funded agencies, Julia provides valuable insight into the direct impact of community investments. She has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and program development.


Board Members

Chet Reed – A leader at Texas Regional Bank, Chet brings financial expertise and a deep commitment to local economic development and philanthropy.

Becca Hancock – An active community leader with a strong background in philanthropy, nonprofit engagement, and strategic community development.

John Navarrette – Dedicated to fostering economic growth and community well-being through his experience in business and local initiatives.

Kim Porterfield – A longtime leader in public affairs, higher education, and civic engagement, Kim has served in leadership roles at Texas State University and as a San Marcos City Council member. She is a strong advocate for education, community service, and policy solutions that create lasting impact.

Rebecca Ybarra – A leader in public service with a background in government affairs, community advocacy, and program development, Rebecca is committed to advancing equity and creating opportunities for individuals and families in Hays and Caldwell Counties.
